Feeling Tipsy?

Hello Fellow Painty Friends!!

There is some debate about when and where you should collect tips for services in general. I saw an article the other day that said people are starting to become tip "weary" because everywhere they go and every service that they get, they are required to tip. I agree... it is overwhelming sometimes... but I don't think that should deter service providers from asking and expecting tips for a job well done.

The same goes for face painting. We are service providers that provide a very special service to very special people... a service that could become a permanent, magical memory in someone's life. And if we do it beautifully and correctly, we deserve a little extra incentive.

That being said, my general rule for tip jars is this:

We only put them out at PUBLIC events, ie: festival, fair, corporate open house or other corporate sponsored event.

NEVER at Private events, ie: birthday parties, weddings, fundraiser (unless we are collecting to give back to the charity)

and ONLY with the permission of the event hosts.
